Week 2

We had another great week at home last week.  We are really getting into the grove of our routine and finding what things are working for us and what are not.  I wanted to go over the projects we did this week, the meals that we had planned out, and dealing with interruptions in our “set” schedule.

Crafts and Activities:

This week we focused on the letter “B” and I created projects around that letter.  Mayson struggled a little more with writing the letter B then he did with the letter A.  We have a whole spiral notebook that contains a single letter A written on each page.  Good thing they were so cheap with the back to school sales going on.

Monday – We focused on introducing the letter and doing our sticker and tracing craft again.  We also spent time working with magnets.

Tuesday – We made upper and lower case “B” butterfly stained glass.  This was a fun project for Mayson.  We also did our “Goodnight Moon 123 Puzzle“.

Wednesday – We made a bubble paint bear which was also another fun activity for Mayson.  We also focused on sorting beads by color with our “Gator Grabbers“.

The tarp used in the picture is from Amazon.  It is thick, wipes up easily and covers a lot of floor space.  Great for messy projects!

Thursday – We made a blueberry picture, read a new “Pete the Cat” book and played and built with “Snap Cubes

Friday – Unfortunately since we had a lot of running around and planning for Jackson’s 1st birthday party on Saturday, we did not complete our crafts 😦  However I wanted to list the ones we planned on doing!  We were going to make a banana tree and sort upper case and lower case “B” and we were going to do a paint and fly swatter craft.

Mayson had a lot of fun with the crafts and activities this week.  Just to note, the bubble bear painting was kind of messy and at one point Mayson sucked into the straw instead of blowing out.  We needed to wash blue paint and bubbles out of his mouth 🙂

Meal Planning

This week we utilized our crock pot two days in a row, which was nice not having to use the oven.  Two of the recipes called for using bacon so I cooked them both up at the same time.

Monday – We had white chicken chili.  We have been making this recipe for a couple of years.  As I was putting the ingredients in our crock pot to cook, I also put the ingredients in a freezer bag to have a meal for another day!  We only had a little bit left over and I had it for lunch the next day.

Tuesday – We used our crock pot again and made chicken bacon tater tot bake.  This is a extremely easy recipe and we had plenty left over to have during our leftover night.

Wednesday – We had a giant chopped salad.  This recipe is a mock Portillo’s chicken chopped salad.  Its very delicious and we had plenty to have more on our leftover night.

Thursday – Leftovers

Friday – Our designated pizza night.  However due to traveling for Jackson’s birthday, we did not have pizza 😦

Interruptions

I think the hardest part of having a super strict schedule is not being able to accommodate for interruptions, distractions and emergencies.  Luckily, there are parts of my scheduled day that are not necessary to be completed.  We can eliminate crafts and activities or even reading time to make the appropriate adjustments to our schedule.

With all the work we had to do to prepare for travel and Jackson’s first birthday party, we did not have time to do our crafts one day.  That’s okay.  We also had a couple of doctors appointments this week and we had to make adjustments for those too.  And when my car wouldn’t start and I was unable to get to those appointments, Tyler had to come and rescue us!

This week was a good lesson in going with the flow.  We cant do everything all the time, and its okay if you are not able to.  As much as we try to plan and prepare for our day there are inevitable things that happen and keep you from completing things.  We just need to do the best we can and figure out what is most import first.

Next week

We have another exciting week planned ahead and a relatively easy meal plan.  I will have another blog post about Jackson’s first birthday and some of the items we used and sell in our very own Etsy shop!  I am also in the process of reading another book that I hope to also leave a little review on.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Don’t forget to comment, like, subscribe and share my blog!
